Oklahoma Game.
I got to my friend Nate’s at 7:30.We left around 7:45 for Eugene. We did not hit very much traffic on the way. However, we did not come to a complete stop on I-5 once. We got to Eugene at about 10:20. Then we found Kate and Missy at the tailgate. Good food.

We went in at got seats at the top of the students section. The view of the field was great. We came off to a great start and took an early 10-0 Lead. The difference in atmosphere between the college student section and my experience in high school in the student section was striking. People knew who was on offense and defense and what a touchdown is. And we were loud…Really loud. Oklahoma had a few false starts and burned all their timeouts…

With time expiring in the first half we kicked a miracle field goal that bounced off the goalpost and went in! My quest to locate a bathroom then began. To my chagrin the connection stand did not accept any form of plastic.

The forth quarter defined the laws of football. Down 13 points with less than a minute and a half to go the ducks did not give up.(although many of the unfaithful fans left….shame) With time quickly expiring, Dixon ran in for a touchdown. To bring us within 6. 27-33.
Then came the onside kick followed by a review that seamed to span an eternity. In the end Duck football. With little time to go the Ducks began their offence. Dixon threw a lovely pass down. Incomplete but the penalty flags flew. Pass interference after another lengthy review the call stood.
Next play Dixon threw a tremendous pass for a touchdown. That made scoring look easy(Why couldn’t we do this all day). Then Oklahoma ran the kick back for 55 yards. With the clock at 2 seconds they attempted the kick. The crowd roared like a 747 taking off. And it was blocked.Ducks win 34-33!!! Instantly thousands of people were on the field. WHAT A GAME…….

Despite all the controversy over the onside kick and pass interference the ducks NEVER gave up and neither did the majority of the crowd.

Before we left the city of Eugene Kenny played the Duck fight song in excess of 15 times…
